Frequently Asked Question

General & Turnkey Services

AB Engineering provides complete turnkey Fire Life Safety (FLS) solutions. Our end-to-end scope includes technical design, supply, installation, hydrostatic testing, authority commissioning, and ongoing maintenance (AMC) for:

Water-based fire fighting systems (sprinklers, standpipes, hose reels, fire pumps).

Specialized clean agent gas suppression ( , FM-200 Novec 1230 CO2 )

Intelligent addressable and conventional fire alarm networks..

Architectural fire safety hardware (fire doors, hydraulic closers, panic exit bars, emergency signage).

While we specialize in full turnkey projects (managing procurement, piping fabrication, wiring, and commissioning together to ensure zero scope gaps), we also offer tailored packages for supply-only or installation, testing, and commissioning based on your project requirements.

Codes, Compliance & Technical Standards

All our system designs, material selections, and site installations strictly follow international NFPA standards and local building regulations, including:

NFPA 13: Standard for the Installation of Sprinkler Systems.

NFPA 14: Standard for the Installation of Standpipe and Hose Systems.

NFPA 20: Standard for the Installation of Stationary Pumps for Fire Protection.

NFPA 72: National Fire Alarm and Signaling Code.

NFPA 2001: Standard on Clean Agent Fire Extinguishing Systems.

CDA 2016 Fire Prevention Standards & Civil Defence Regulations.

Yes. Upon completion of testing and commissioning, we provide comprehensive handover packages, including as-built shop drawings, hydrostatic pipe pressure test logs, pump performance curves, addressable cause-and-effect matrix verification, and operation/maintenance manuals required for official inspections.

Fire Fighting & Suppression Systems

We supply and install heavy-duty ERW and Seamless carbon steel piping (Schedule 40/80). Depending on project specifications and working pressure requirements, we utilize grooved mechanical fittings, certified structural welding, or heavy-gauge threaded connections with anti-corrosion primer coating.

Water sprinklers are not suitable for sensitive asset zones like server rooms, data centers, electrical control rooms, and substations where water would cause irreversible equipment damage. Clean agent gas systems ( , FM-200 Novec 1230) extinguish fires within 10 seconds without leaving moisture, residue, or causing electrical short circuits.

Fire Alarm & Detection Systems

Conventional Systems: Divide a facility into general zones. When a detector triggers, the panel indicates the general zone/floor but not the exact detector location. Ideal for small, single-story facilities.

Addressable Systems: Every single detector, manual call point, and module has a unique electronic address. The main panel displays the exact location of smoke or heat in real time. Recommended for multi-story buildings, high-rises, and large commercial spaces.

Yes. Our addressable fire alarm panels interface seamlessly with elevators (automatic ground-floor recall), HVAC units (smoke damper trip and fan shutdown), access control doors, and emergency voice evacuation (EVAC) sounder systems through input/output control modules.

Annual Maintenance Contracts (AMC) & Testing

Fire safety systems require routine monthly and quarterly inspections, along with thorough annual testing. Fire pumps, jockey pressure maintenance, battery health, and alarm panel loops must be verified regularly to ensure instant response during a real emergency.

Our AMC agreements cover scheduled monthly/quarterly site visits, including:

Fire pump house performance runs (diesel engine battery checks, automatic pressure switch cut-in/cut-out, jockey pump alignment).

Hydrostatic pressure checks and valve lubrication across standpipes and sprinklers.

Addressable detector loop checks, panel battery load tests, and audio-visual sounder tests.

Detailed maintenance inspection logs and 24/7 technical emergency response support.
